peace from the middle east

some of my more recent photos from the middle east in the birth of civilization, egypt this past december.

i've finally decided to stop using this xanga for my photos. xanga has changed drastically since i got it seven years ago, in appearance and network trend. it took me a good minute to find out how to start a new entry this morning. and frankly, i'm simply not in high school anymore. i never really did blog about anything that meant anything, i think?

hopefully i'll continue taking photos for my own personal life and trips. if you haven't noticed, i haven't really had anything for the three years. truth is, i have some stuff here and there. just too lazy to get off my ass and edit/upload anything.

i have decided to keep at least some kind of photoblog going. just not sure how devoted i will be to it, seeing as i've had it but still haven't touched it since that first day. i want to motivate myself to update as frequently as i can, but no promises.

we're going to be in college soon, kids. it's the home stretch, we're officially fourth quarter high school seniors baby. shit is wild, life is a ride, and school is cake. not like school hasn't always been cake, but now it's one we don't have to bake. speaking of baking, 420 is tomorrow and i'm working all day, and some cats in school are trying to make it senior cut day. my new job at shoprite is quite easy so far. i've also been on a two week winning streak in poker, so i'm just trying to spend it as fast as i can before i start losing it again.
i haven't bought any shoes since i lost my wallet back in january, the wallet with $120 in it so i could buy some new shoes. i've been saving it back up until now, to buy shoes of course. orange blaze air zoom fc's. my fourth pair of orange shoes, it's so sick.

the one who keeps you going.

this photograph and entry is dedicated to van hunt, one of the most amazing musicians ever. yesterday i listened to "down here in hell with you" from his first album. it was my first time hearing it in quite a while and it's simply magnificent. from the warped bass, the electronic flutes, the soft cellos, the chanting background vocals, hunt's main vocal, and the seductive lyrics. everything about that song is just perfect. and the song immediately following it, "what can i say" is perhaps one of my favorite love songs. seriously, everything about this cat is amazing, and i'm sad that only a few of my friends have even heard of him, most of then from me.

i'm going to marry a woman with amazing musical talent, perfect pitch is a must. we're going to teach our girls piano, guitar, and one of the string instruments. the boys however, are going to have to learn all that plus either trumpet or trombone. oh, did i mention they're all going to take vocal lessons before and after puberty. the only exception to this is if one of them takes after the electronics and learns how to use a control board.
my wife is also going to be an avid shoe collector. we and our children will donate half of our basement or garage to shelving our shoes. each of our children will own at least three pairs of dunks, one of the air maxes, and one classic chucks. at least two jordans for the boys is also required. the girls each are not permitted to own more shoes than my wife. all of us are expected to clean our shoes on a regular basis.

and i know that she is out there, there's only one.

waterfall.

el pais de republica dominicana was a blast. definitely up there with brazil in 'countries to find a bangin' foreign spouse' and 'countries to spend the rest of your life in'. the photo was taken from the inside of a cross-shaped lighthouse named after cristobal columbus, about halfway down of the lower portion of the cross facing the bottom. at the center of the cross is a hollow tower guarding the ashes of columbus himself. as a lighthouse, it is not really located near the shore, but instead atop a hill viewing the entire city of santo domingo.

the classic.

taken with a pinhole camera back in september of definitely my favorite shoe model, nike motherfunking dunks low. i don't remember which color scheme that specific one was, but it was one of them. i just bought a new pair last week, the sb true reds, among the first sbs ever made. i'm looking into gray or white for my next ones. any suggestions?

i've not taken any photos with the digital slr for awhile. instead, i've been using the old school manual slr cameras. it's definitely alot more fun developing and enlarging photos yourself in a dark room than on a computer. and you get more into it, like noticing minor things in the picture that i wouldn't have on the computer because it's so pixelated.
like, i was too lazy to reinstall my scsi card to reinstall my scanner, so i just took a picture of the film paper with my digital slr. that's why it look so grainy, but the actual picture looks incredibly smooth. besides the materials and chemicals, and lack of a darkroom, i think i'd still rather use a classic 35mm.

so like whoa, i haven't updated in mucho largo. for many reasons and excuses of course. but none of you really care about that.
school is a drag. seriously, senior year is slow as freaking hell, much slower than any of the other years if anything. and i'm not even busy with college stuff, not really at least. the only thing i hate about the entire college process are the essays. i mean really, if i won't even hand in essays due for english class, how do i expect myself to write one for college. which may in fact be a reason i never updated this nor my normal xanga. i'm sick of writing anything, personal or formal.
but whatever, next week on thursday, i finally get my license. not like i haven't been driving around anyways, but now i can do it fearlessly and legally. everything is going to be so much easier once i get it. i just hope i don't die because i suck at driving.
at least i'm going to new york tomorrow, so maybe i can get some new clothes or shoes.
